Split
SPLIT is the Central-Mediterranean city at the foot of Marjan significant due to origins in the luxurious palace built in the 3rd century by the Roman Emperor Diocletian who resided in the palace until his death. Based on its dimensions and preservation, this palace is the most significant monument of Roman architecture on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. The mausoleum where he was buried is today the artistically unique cathedral of St. Dismus, while the town square before it – Peristil, is the vibrant centre of the town. You can obtain more information on the city and its proud inhabitants should you decide to journey from Korčula by the regular express catamaran route. A one-way journey last about two and a half hours and allowing for daily outlets.
