Hiking excursions

From Lumbarda it is possible to take up a hiking excursion along the well kept field tracks – towards the east on the Ražnjić cape through the dense pine forest, offering a view of Mljet and the open sea, and then through the vineyards of the Lumbarda fields, to the west through the olive groves of Gornje Blato on the “defora” – up to the southern slopes and coves of the island or Donje Blato to St. Anthony’s Glavice and then 103 stone steps surrounded by centuries old cypress trees leading to the chapel of St. Anthony the Hermit dating back to 1420. The old path to Žrnovi can be taken by foot. The map detailing the hiker’s track along the eastern part of the island of Korčula can be obtained from the Tourist Bureau Office in Lumbarda.

Kočje is located above Žrnovi some 10km from Lumbarda and is a natural phenomenon formed by great sections of unusually shaped cliffs, caves and narrow passages which shall please all lovers of nature, just like the old Marmont path leading from Žrnovi to Pupnat.

St. Elijah, is the highest peak on Pelješac and rises above Orebić to a height of 961m. Following a short drive over the Pelješac Channel, it is accessible using the hiker’s paths from a number of directions, as well as from Orebić, with well marked-out hiker paths. The climb takes about two hours, and is interesting due to its beautiful crown views on the peak itself.
